Portland BackPack is looking for a van driver 3 days a week plus some weekends for warehouse packing events. You will need a valid driver license, a clean driving record, insurance, and will need to be able to pass a background check as you will be entering in and out of elementary schools. Must be over 21 years old. This position is a contracted position for one year and currently does not provide any medical or retirement benefits.
You will be responsible for delivering bins to 10-15 schools per week and bring back empty bins to the warehouse. You will also keep track of bins of not being used at each school and track how many bins you have dropped off. You will interface with school personnel and then relay the information to the Executive Director. As the van delivery driver, you be responsible for the van staying fueled up, proper oil changes, and the van is washed at least once a month or more with the organization’s credit card.
You will assist the Executive Director with weekly inventory. You will assist with scheduled warehouse packing events. When funding permits you will assist the Executive Director with food shopping for packing events.
The job is physical and you will need to be able to lift 25lbs or more repeatedly. You will load and unload bins into the van, be able to use a dolly and a palate jack.
Must be able to speak English and if you speak Spanish fluently or another language a plus. Pay is bi-weekly at $500 per week (subject to change). You will need to provide a W-9 and will be responsible for paying your own taxes.
